Thursday After Party Starts at 10:15PM
Head out to San Luis Obispo Thursday night, take in some Farmer's Market, grab a late dinner, then join Scotty O'Graci's Soul Explozion for a Disco-Funk Dance Party that will take you to another dimension. Featuring Scotty O'Graci (aka Scott Andrews, formerly of Burning James & The Funky Flames, Lenny Blue & The Otter Guys, and BODY, who is also the Founder of SLO Jazz Festival), you get a chance to hear a local master of funk practice his craft as well as sing some songs you're bound to love. You will discover that The Soul Explozion brings a powerfully heavy funk sound, yet Scotty mixes it up when joking with the crowd and keeping the mood light and festive. Also joining Scotty O'Graci (pronounced Oh-Grah-Cee) is a special guest appearance by James Conver on drums. If you're a fan of "pocket" drumming, you'll be in heaven with James behind the kit. Of course, local bass-monster Joe Duran (also bassist with Damon Castillo and Steppin' Out) will be slappin' those bass strings creating a funk rumble that will shake the foundations of Higuera Street, and Jacob Odell (who is also Zongo All-Stars' Guitarist) will be blowing your mind on more than one occasion with his special solos. Deanna D may be joining the band on percussion with her own sweet allure and perfect timing. It all starts at 10:15PM and lasts until 1:15AM this Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Frog & Peach on Higuera Street in SLO near between Broad and Garden St.). The last time we played Frog & Peach, several friends commented "we danced all night!" Another gentleman wrote "you're the best funk band on the Central Coast" and other smiles abounded as the dance party became a sweaty mess. The band literally played 2 hours straight before calling a break. Not sure we'll do that again, but we'll likely have some new songs for you, as well as proven hits we've played before, with music written by SLY STONE, MACEO, GROVER WASHINGTON JR. and SCOTTY himself. Bring your friends for a fun night out, enjoy the beer on tap, as well as wine and cocktails, and come dance the night away!
